The Global Social Epidemiology Network (GSEN) is an alliance of researchers committed to tackling the worldwide root causes of morbidity, mortality, and health inequalities. In addition, the GSEN aims to promote sustainable solutions through shared analyses and knowledge, strengthened coordination in evidence-based recommendations, and collective efforts across multiple disciplines and multiple countries, mainly in and for the Global South.

We publish commentaries, policy briefs, and original research on the effects of social determinants of health, universal health coverage, and poverty-reduction policies on various diseases and health conditions. We do so by integrating robust retrospective impact evaluations with advanced forecasting methods. In addition, we like to organize periodic lectures and meetings addressing the main topics related to Social Epidemiology with a Global South perspective.

The GSEN is launched as an established network of multidisciplinary researchers working together to promote a social perspective on population health research, which is traditionally more focused on the biomedical aspects of health.

As GSE members, we are excited about the vision of integrating social equity and socio-economic factors in global health research as a vital strategy to advance the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals!
