Davide Rasella

Associate Research Professor and Head of the Health Impact Assessment Group

Davide Rasella is an epidemiologist with a MSc and PhD in Public Health from the Institute of Collective Health in Salvador (Brazil), a Diploma in Tropical Biomedicine from the Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine (Belgium), and training in mathematical modelling from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK).

He has worked for nearly twenty years in public health of vulnerable populations in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, ranging from field epidemiology in humanitarian emergencies to academic research on the effectiveness of nationwide policies. During the last decade he has focused his work on methodologies for health impact assessment of social determinants, cash transfers and primary care using observational data, and has developed methods for the integration of retrospective impact evaluations with forecasting microsimulation models.

He is currently leading the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Group at ISGlobal, which aim is to develop HIA studies in the areas of infectious diseases, maternal and child health, climate and urban health, both in high and low/ middle income countries.
