The Urban environment and neurodevelopment in childhood and adolescence - UNEVEN project aims to strengthen evidence of the effects of the urban environment on neurodevelopmental by: (1) assessing the effects of the urban environment on working memory responding to question CCLIM 4, (2) deciphering neural mechanisms underlying the effects of the urban environment on working memory leveraging existing and newly collected neuroimaging data; (3) exploring the role of the social determinants of health on these associations, responding to questions CCLIM1.3 and QT 5. We will use state of the art traditional (urban exposure assessments) and multi-disciplinary (magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) techniques in a dataset over France and Spain that, due to geographical and cultural differences provides the variability needed to generate policy risk mitigation recommendations that serve not only France but also Europe. The UNEVEN project builds upon three of the few unique birth cohort studies, Pelagie (France), Sepages (France), and INMA (Spain), with longitudinal follow-ups and neuroimaging data which will allow to explore this complex research question at reasonably low cost.
