Clarence Rengel

Investigador predoctoral Malaria y enfermedades parasitarias desatendidas

Clarence Jim Rengel is a PhD researcher specializing in IgG N-glycan profiling as biomarkers of infection, disease, and immunization. He holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree in Quality in Analytical Laboratories, where he developed expertise in analytical chemistry and biomarker analysis using techniques such as liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry.

Professionally, Clarence has built a multidisciplinary background at the intersection of analytical chemistry, immunology, and data science. His experience includes laboratory quality systems and advanced analytical method development, as well as research on protein and biomarker characterization using LC, LC-MS, CE, and CE-MS. He has also developed strong computational skills, applying Python, R, and SQL for statistical analysis and multivariate modeling of complex biological data.

Currently, Clarence focuses on investigating how Fc N-glycosylation of IgG modulates antibody function and immune responses. His work involves developing and applying analytical platforms, including capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, and multiplex assays, to study glycan patterns as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. Through longitudinal studies across health, disease, and vaccination, he contributes to advancing translational immunology and biomarker discovery.
