Maria Morillo holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Advanced Immunology at the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her academic training has focused on immunology and biomedical research, with a particular interest in host immune responses to parasitic infections such as Chagas disease.

Her first research experience began at ISGlobal as an undergraduate student in the Trypanosoma cruzi Biology Group, where she completed her bachelor's thesis. She is currently continuing her research training at the same institution, where she is carrying out her Master's thesis in the Chagas Disease Group in collaboration with the Malaria Immunology Group.

At present, she combines her Master's internship with part-time work as a laboratory technician at ISGlobal. Her main duties include processing human samples, performing immunological assays, maintaining cell cultures, and supporting ongoing research projects within the Chagas Disease Group.
