Natalia Shartova

Natalia Shartova is a geographer with extensive experience in health geography, with a strong focus on the interaction between climate and population health. Natalia holds a Master's and a PhD degree in
Geography from Moscow State University in Russia. Her research is in the area of the direct health effects of thermal stress, as well as the health effects in vector-borne diseases under the influence of climate change. Before moving to ISGlobal, Natalia worked at Moscow State University and at the Higher School of Economics (University) in Moscow, Russia.

In her research, she always follows an interdisciplinary analysis. Her previous research contributes to providing methodology for examining the spatial patterns of thermal stress at various spatial scales and the spatial patterns of vector-borne diseases under the influence of changes in climate, social determinants, and urban environment. Natalia is currently a postdoctoral researcher at ISGlobal, participating in EARLY-ADAPT project. Now, she is focused on environmental epidemiology to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of temperature exposure on human health.
