Michelle Kusters is a Medical Doctor from the Netherlands. She is currently working on a collaborative Ph.D. project between ISGlobal and the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. During this project, she will be focusing on the impact of environmental pollutants, including air pollution, on brain development in children.

She obtained a Bachelor's and Master's in Medicine from Maastricht University. During her internships, she specifically focused on Tropical Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry. To further expand her knowledge, she thereafter obtained a Master in Global Health at Maastricht University. She conducted her Master’s dissertation on the epidemiology of Mental Health Disorders among Children in Catalonia.

Furthermore, Michelle was part of the board of the MUSTANGH Foundation in 2017/2018, during which she focused on strengthening medical education and collaboration with the West Gonja Hospital in Damongo, Ghana. In addition, she co-organized the 9th annual Maastricht Symposium on European and Global Health in 2019.
