Chenjerai Jairoce is currently a Predoctoral Fellow working on “Understanding the effect of a booster dose in RTS,s/AS01E malaria vaccine-induced antibody responses and duration of protection in African children” under the supervision of Carlota Dobaño and Gemma Moncunill.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Eduardo Mondlane University- Mozambique and a Master's Degree in Medical Science (Immunity and Infection) from the University of Sydney-Australia. His focus has been on immunity, infection and vaccines, particularly in malaria and HIV and COVID-19.
Since 2010 he has been affliated to Centro de Investigação em Saúde de Manhiça in Mozambique. He worked intensely in evaluating the immunological responses to children vaccinated with the RTS, S/AS01E vaccine and identifying a correlate of vaccine-induced protection. He also worked in research studies on immuno-epidemiological factors of malaria in the Manhiça District population of Mozambique. In the field of HIV, he worked in accessing gastrointestinal biomarkers in acute-HIV infected Mozambican adults. Recently, he has also been evolved in studies of immune response to natural infection and vaccines to COVID-19.
