Leire Agirre
Research Assistant Global Viral and Bacterial Infections | Environment and Health over the Lifecourse
Leire Agirre currently works as a research assistant in the Public Health Liver Group team. After two years of experience in the team, she has contributed to various research projects in the field of public health, with a particular focus on chronic liver diseases, especially metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASLD and MASH).
During this period, she has participated in various studies, including economic evaluations and health policy reviews in several European countries, as well as initiatives developed alongside global leaders in this field. In addition, she has participated in international conferences and high-impact events, such as the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting and the side event of the Global Metabolic Health Roundtable: MASLD/MASH and other major NCDs, in New York, US.
Her previous clinical experience in the Basque Country and Catalonia, combined with her background in public health research, positions her as a professional with a comprehensive vision that connects clinical practice with the analysis and formulation of public health policies.
