INTARESE project brings together a team of international scientists from the branches of epidemiology, environmental sciences and biosciences, to co-operate in the development and application of new approaches in integrated environmental risk assessment health and its consequences. This project supports the European policy on environmental health and in particular the European Action Plan on Health and Environment.

We develop a methodological framework and a set of tools and indicators for integrated assessment, which can be applied to different elements of environmental stress (including pollutants and physical hazards), exposure pathways (air, water, soil, food) and political fields. The framework, tools and data are tested and demonstrated through comprehensive assessments of health risks and exposure to a series of specific policy areas, including transportation, housing, water, waste, household chemicals and climate.

The results of these tests are used to adjust the assessment methods and provide specific information about the health implications that current policies will and possible future policies.
