People

After completing her PhD in Biomedicine (PEBC-IDIBELL, Barcelona) in 2016 for research on Sirtuins, stress pathways and epigenetic control of mitosis in mammals, she gave a turn in her career to study molecular aspects of Trypanosoma parasites, the causative agents of Human and Animal African Trypanosomiasis. She worked for four years at Institut Pasteur (Paris) as a postdoctoral researcher, where she focused on understanding DNA repair mechanisms that drive VSG switching and antigenic variation in Trypanosoma brucei.

In 2019, she started a transversal project, with Institut Pasteur Paris and Institut Pasteur Guinea, and developed a CRISPR-based molecular tool kit for Human African Trypanosomiasis diagnosis.

In 2022, she joined the Plasmodium vivax and exosome research (PvREX) group at ISGlobal/IGTP to study the role of extracellular vesicles in Plasmodium vivax cryptic infections using organ-on-a-chip technology and single-cell transcriptomics.
