Irene Eleta is a postdoctoral researcher and Marie Curie fellow. She obtained a Ph.D. in Information Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park (USA). She is leading the project ESAIRE with Mark Nieuwenhuijsen. Her work involves engaging stakeholders and applying participatory methods in the design of environmental monitoring systems (sensors, online platforms, mobile applications).
She has previous research experience in technology-mediated public participation, social network analysis, multilingual communication and information access. She combines methods from Social Sciences, Information Sciences, and Human-Computer Interaction, and applies them for improving public engagement with Science, the Environment, Public Health, and Art
