The INTERPHONE case-control study (2001-2004) evaluated the association between mobile phone use and risk of brain, acoustic neuroma, and parotid gland tumors. The main publication of this multinational study concluded that "biases and errors prevent a causal interpretation" and there was little evidence of an increase in the risk of meningioma, acoustic neuroma, or parotid gland tumors in relation to mobile phone use. Dr Franco Momoli will give an open seminar on this issue on July 19.

Franco Momoli is an Assistant Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, at the University of Ottawa, and a scientist in both the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. He is involved in a number of clinical trials and is an investigator on the Canadian component of the MOBIKids study. Now he is doing a sabbatical stay in ISGlobal.
