DescripciónThe Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal, is the fruit of an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health, through research, translation to policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. What We Are Looking for
We are recruiting a statistician or data scientist to join our dynamic team.
The statistician will be involved in exciting projects related to Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of large-scale public interventions to improve the health of populations in High and Low-Middle Income countries.
The overarching aim of the HIA group at ISGlobal is to develop quantitative HIA as a cross-disciplinary activity, working with the three internationally recognized areas of the institute: 1) malaria and other infectious diseases, 2) maternal and child health, and 3) urban health, climate and non-communicable diseases.
The position will involve statistical analysis of data from different sources, application of regression models commonly used in epidemiology, and analyses with user-friendly microsimulation software. The role requires close collaboration with international project partners from a range of disciplines as well as researchers at ISGlobal.
The successful applicant will be supervised by the HIA Group Leader, Dr Davide Rasella, Associate Research Professor.
- Perform statistical analyses and simulations for the projects of the HIA team.
- Provide statistical support to its researchers.
- Creation and management of datasets.
- Knowledge of applied and theoretical statistics.
- Programming using the main statistical tools and software in R or STATA.
- High level of critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills both written and spoken.
Training and experience
- Bachelor`s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or related fields.
- Good level of English (written and spoken).
