The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking an experienced quantitative researcher, familiar with a range of statistical/ econometric methods used for the economic evaluation in the context of informing resource allocation decisions in global health.

Main duties and tasks

  • Cost-effectiveness analysis
  • Cost-utility analysis
  • Cost-benefit analyses
  • Cost-minimisation analysis
  • Cost-consequence analysis
  • Binary dependent variables
  • Ordered and bivariate probit models
  • Survival (or duration) methods
  • Single Distribution generalized linear models
  • Panel Data Analysis
  • Discontinuity Regression

Secondary tasks

  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (desired)
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among investigators including the study group(s) by contributing to the shared storage drive and project management system
  • Liaise with other research groups at ISGlobal, in Spain and abroad as relevant
  • Participate in relevant ISGlobal seminars, meetings, workshops and training activities

Training, experience and other requirements

  • Degree in public health, global health or related field (PhD)
  • Advanced training in research methods and epidemiology (demonstrated experience)
  • Willingness to travel within Spain and/or internationally a minimum of three times per year


  • Project organization, management skills, multidisciplinary approach
  • Active role in project management
  • Experienced in proposal writing
  • Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and experience of using statistical software packages (e.g., Stata, R) to analyse data as part of economic evaluations
  • Deep experience with working with large datasets, including data management, linking multiple datasets and other activities to prepare data for analysis.
  • Knowledge of the principles underpinning modelling and econometric techniques, including regression and matching
  • Experience in the design and execution of quantitative research, from the proposal stage through to execution and write-up
  • Able to work independently and with initiative
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • Ability to work flexibly and to deadlines.
