Precision medicine has revolutionized certain areas of healthcare in developed countries, such as cancer treatment. Tools such as big data, consumer monitoring, gene sequencing and more are having a deep, lasting impact in the way we approach patients: from one-size-fits-all to personalized interventions. Could it be possible to apply the same principle to global health? Could the increasing wealth of epidemiological and population information and smarter strategic interventions reduce the burden of disease and the toll of premature death in the most affected areas of the world? Professor Flahault, Director of the Institute of Global Health in Geneva and Co-President of this year’s World Health Summit, thinks so. He will explain why to the Master of Global Health and the Master of Clinical Research 2016-2017 student class in a lecture session open to all.
