Approximately half of the world population lives at risk of malaria

According to the 2017 World Malaria Report, 91 countires confirmed almost 216 million cases in 2016 (an increase of 5 million compared to the previous year).

In 2016, malaria killed more than 445,000 people. Fifteen countries accounted for 80% of global deaths; all of them except one are in Subsaharan Africa, where 9 out of 10 deaths occurred.
