Núria Casamitjana is Elected Member of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Partnership Board

The Training and Education Director travelled to London to participate in the 16th Board meeting

12.05.2015

Núria Casamitjana, Training and Education Director at ISGlobal, has been elected member of the Board of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH), that is formed by 25 experts selected from amongst the more than 650 partner organizations. Dr. Casamitjana has been elected to represent the ‘Academic, Research and Training Institutions' constituency.

"My acceptance as member of the Partnership Board, representing the academic and research institutions, offers a great opportunity for reinforcing ISGlobal leadership in maternal and child health research and training", declared Núria Casamitjana upon learning of the decision.

Following her appointment, the ISGlobal director travelled to London last April to participate in the Board Meeting, chaired by Mrs. Graça Machel. During the meeting, the Board members reflected on the Sustainable Developmental Goals, the Global Strategy for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (2016-2030) and the Global Financing Facility. They also discussed and approved the Strategic Framework 2016-2020 previous to the implementation of the Strategic Plan that will guide its work beyond 2015.

The PMNCH was born as a WHO initiative to respond to the Millennium Development Goals, and brings together the reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health communities across seven constituencies: academic, research and teaching institutions; donors and foundations; health-care professionals associations; multilateral organizations; non-governmental organizations; partner countries; and the private sector. Its goal is to provide an institutional platform that enhances the interaction and collective action of partners focused on improving the health of women and children.
