ISGlobal Researchers Will Be at the Head of the SEIMC and the Faculty of Medicine of the UB

Jordi Vila is the new president of the SEIMC and Antoni Trilla, new dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona

The Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC, for its acronym in Spanish) has renewed its board of directors and Jordi Vila Estapé, director of the Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative at ISGlobal, takes over from José Miguel Cisneros as the new president of the institution.

Jordi Vila also heads the Viral and Bacterial Infections Programme at ISGlobal and the Clinical Microbiology Department of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona.

The SEIMC is a non-profit scientific society that brings together professionals in the field of infectious diseases regarding the clinics and treatment, as well as microbiological diagnosis and prevention. For the past 35 years, the institution has collaborated with health authorities to promote and develop health initiatives, such as the National Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance, among others.

Antoni Trilla, new dean of the Faculty of Medicine

Likewise, Antoni Trilla will be the new dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona (UB), replacing Francesc Cardellach. Currently, Trilla is head of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology service at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, research professor at ISGlobal, professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the UB, and member of the governing board of the College of Physicians of Barcelona (COMB, for its acronym in Spanish).
