Mark Nieuwenhuijsen: Working Together to Create Healthy and Sustainable Cities

Our health –and that of our planet– depends on how cities are designed. Thus it is important that urban and transport planners, environmentalists, public health staff and policy makers work together to create more sustainable and healthier cities. In order to translate scientific evidence to decision-making, ISGlobal promotes the Urban Planning, Environment and Health Initiative. Its director, Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, describes the #CitiesWeWant: cities with more green and blue spaces, less air pollution, less noise, no “heat island” effects and where citizens can get plenty of physical activity.
