David Ampuero Martinich is a medical research fellow at the Centro de Investigação em Saude de Manhiça (CISM) in Mozambique, in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).
A medical doctor graduated from the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, he specialised in microbiology and infectious diseases at the Gregorio Marañon General University Hospital and has a master's degree in Health Sciences Research Methodology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He also has a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and a diploma in Health Sciences Statistics from the UAB.
He has done training stays in Peru and South Africa in collaboration with the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). He is currently working as a medical research fellow linked to the project "3HP- A randomized, pragmatic, open-label trial to evaluate the effect of three months of high dose rifapentine administered as a single round or annually given in HIV-infected individuals".
