Mary-Ann Richardson has a BA (HSS) in Health Ethics and Law from UNISA South Africa (SA). She initially joined the BOHEMIA programme as a contractor providing support and developing infrastructure for the BOHEMIA clinical trial.
She moved to Barcelona from Johannesburg (SA) to join the team in a full time capacity on the 1st of November 2019. Prior to consulting, she worked in the South African public health sector from 2014-2017 as the Operations Director for BroadReach Healthcare.
Mary- Ann Richardson managed a division of just over 160 people that were both office and field-based, which grew to over 1000 as contract staff were added to achieve USAID targets. The division provided health system strengthening support at National, Provincial, District and facility level across 9 health districts and 295 facilities in South Africa.
Previously she worked in the clinical trials sector for 15 years in South Africa. Holding several senior managerial positions with large international contract research organisations (CROs), she was involved in the administrative and regulatory aspects of medical research and drug development and has extensive experience in training and auditing researchers and investigative site staff in all aspects of Good Clinical Practice.
