Third Meeting of the International Global Health Partnership Board of ISGlobal

The International Global Health Partnership Board provides advice to ISGlobal's Board of Trustees on the strategy of the institute

27.04.2015

The International Global Health Partnership Board (IGHPB), formed by recognized experts and institutions in the global health field, met for the third time on April 13th, with the aim of advising ISGlobal's Board of Trustees on the institution's strategy and impact, and to identify new strategic areas and potential partnerships.

The meeting was chaired by the President of the Board, Dr. Jaime Sepúlveda, Professor at UCSF, and included the participation of Dr. Virander Chauhan from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in New Delhi, Dr. Silvia Gold from the Mundo Sano Foundation, Dr. Pascoal Mocumbi from the Manhica Foundation, Dr. Marcel Tanner from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and Dr. Roberto Tapia-Conyer from the Carlos Slim Foundation. Members of ISGlobal's Board of Trustees and institutional management staff also participated in the event.

During the meeting, the ISGlobal staff presented the Institute's accomplishments and the follow-up of the past IGHPB recommendations in 2012. In addition,  the strategic plan  -which includes the merger process with CREAL- and the situation of the current initiatives were also exposed. Insights and proposals from the IGHPB members were received and summarized by the Chairman, Dr. Sepúlveda.

These recommendations, together with those recently made by the Scientific and Technical Committee (STAC), will now be discussed in depth to determine their implementation in the future strategic development of the institution, at a key time in its rather young history.
