ISGlobal’s Commitment to Health Recognised by the 25th Anniversary Farmamundi Award

The Valencian NGO commemorates 25 years of work defending the universal right to health

Last Thursday, 18 October, Farmamundi celebrated 25 years of humanitarian work in defence of the universal right to health with an event held at its headquarters in Paterna, Valencia. During the ceremony, the NGO presented the Farmamundi 25 Year Awards. The award for excellence in innovation and research was presented to ISGlobal in recognition of the organisation’s commitment to health.

In his remarks, Farmamundi’s president Ricard Troiano recalled the major accomplishments and milestones in the NGO’s history since its first emergency intervention during the Great Lakes refugee crisis in 1994. In the course of the event, Troiano presented the Farmamundi 25 Year Awards to several institutions for their social and humanitarian work in the field of health in different areas of endeavour.

The winner in the category of innovation and research was ISGlobal and the award was presented to Leire Pajín, the institute’s Director of Global Development, who attended the event.  In the category of information dissemination, the award was given to the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain (Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Farmacéuticos de España).  In the category of consciousness raising, the award went to the Coordinadora Valenciana de ONGD, a body responsible for coordinating development NGOs in Valencia.  

The celebration concluded with a tribute to the former presidents of Farmamundi, who have guided the NGO’s over the last 25 years.
