Patrick Walker, MRC Research Fellow in Population Health Science in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College London, will give this open talk entitled Modelling optimal packages of interventions towards malaria elimination, on May 10.

His research interests involve using mathematical models in order to better understand the likely impact of interventions upon malaria transmission and associated burden of disease. His recent work has focused upon establishing the optimal packages of interventions to achieve various malaria elimination milestones across the wide range of transmission settings that exist across Africa.

He is also interested in the effects of malaria during pregnancy and work alongside the Malaria in Pregnancy Consortium in an attempt to better understand how these depend upon malaria transmission within the general population.
