What we are looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a nurse who is interested in carrying out selected activities for the Hepatitis B Community-based Screening And Vaccination in Africans (HBV-COMSAVA) project. The overall project goal is to simplify the hepatitis B virus (HBV) care pathway for Ghanaian and Senegalese migrants in Barcelona, Spain, through community-based screening and vaccination, and linkage to care

Key responsabilities

  • Travel to community settings in the greater Barcelona area (n=11) on project intervention days;
  • Interact with patients and administer survey while maintaining confidentiality and correct informed consent procedures;
  • Realization of rapid diagnostic test for the detection of HBsAg through finger-stick whole blood collection;
  • Collection of blood samples through dried blood spot (DBS) method and transportation of samples to storage or reference laboratory as needed;
  • Responsible for coordinating logistics relating to vaccinations in collaboration with the project manager;
  • Travel to vaccination storage unit in Barcelona to acquire vaccine doses and maintain in cold chain on specific intervention days;
  • Administration of the first dose of the hepatitis B virus vaccine onsite (community setting);
  • Transport samples to central laboratory (Vall d’Hebron, Barcelona) as needed;
  • Assist the ISGlobal project manager with data collection and other relevant tasks as needed;
  • Attend project meetings as needed.

Training and Experience

  • Good level of Spanish and English (written and spoken). Catalan and other languages (e.g. French) considered an asset. 

Mobility

  • It is estimated that the study nurse will travel to each study site (n=11) 2 times This includes visiting study sites on days an intervention (i.e. vaccination) is required. 
  • T-10 zone 1 metro cards will be provided to the nurse as needed for use during the study intervention period for all required travel and reasonable additional costs will be reimbursed with advanced approval required.
