The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in the following main areas, Urban Health and Child and environmental health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Maternal, Child and reproductive Health. What We Are Looking for
We are seeking a competitive candidate to apply to the upcoming AGAUR PhD call (with the support of ESF). We offer a PhD project on microplastics and other prevalent contaminants in drinking water, in order to evaluate human exposure, understand determinants of exposure and related health effects. The candidate will conduct literature review, analyse data, lead publications, attend and present in seminars, and participate in other scientific activities in ISGlobal.
The selected candidate will be evaluated by an internal committee who prioritizes ISGlobal candidates.

The eligibility criteria will be determined by AGAUR call that will be published in the coming weeks. We expect that the requirements will be similar to the past call.
Comply with the requirements for access to the doctorate with the details provided by the call, at the time of submitting the application:
a) Have passed the requirements to access the doctoral program between January 1, 2019* and the application submission date. People who have passed the requirements to access the doctoral program as of January 1, 2016*, can also participate in the call, if, between January 1, 2016* and December 31, 2018*, they have been in one of the following situations, after having passed the studies to access the doctoral program:
- They have enjoyed a period of maternity leave.
- They have been in charge of minors under six years of age or people with legally recognized physical, mental or sensory disabilities who depend on the beneficiary and who require special dedication.
- They have suffered any serious illness or accident that requires major surgery or treatment in a hospital center and causes the temporary incapacity for employment or normal activity of the person for a continuous period of at least 6 months. Minor surgery and outpatient surgery treatments and rehabilitation treatments performed outside the hospital system are excluded.
b) At the time of submitting the application, candidates may not have received any assistance in previous calls for hiring research staff for the FI and FI-SDUR programs. Nor may they have enjoyed more than 12 months of any other contract for predoctoral research staff in training within the framework of the Law of Science of Technology and Innovation.
c) At the time of starting the contract that is the object of the grant, candidates must be enrolled in the doctoral program for the academic year 2021-22*.
d) Not be in possession of a doctorate degree.
e) Have a minimum average grade of the academic record for undergraduate studies or equivalent qualification equal to or greater than 6.50 (scale from 0 to 10).

Training and experience
Master in Public Health or related. Previous experience in environmental epidemiology, water exposures, and/or microplastics will be considered an asset.
Literature review, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, oral presentation in meetings and seminars.

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
