CREAL participates in "Pint of Science"

On May 20th CREAL participates in the pub Cara B

11.05.2015

On May 18th, 19th and 20th, scientists from Barcelona will leave the laboratory to carry their science to the pubs thanks to the International Festival "Pint of Science". This Festival, held since 2012 in the UK, will be held for the first time this year in Spain.

Scientists will take science to five bars of Barcelona. From the 3D mapping of the Milky Way to the effects of climate change, since the formation of memory to the handling of nanomaterials, participants will make a brief review of the latest scientific research topics, with a pint of beer in the hand. The aim of Pint of Science is that everyone can enjoy science.

CREAL participates on May 20th, from 8pm, in the pub CARA B (Torrent de les Flors, 36) with the participation of the researchers David Rojas with a lecture entitled "Air Pollution and Health" and Joan Forns with talk "What contaminants in the environment may affect child neuropsychological development" in an event called "The air of Barcelona", which is part of the activities marking the 10th anniversary of CREAL. The session will be in Spanish.

Pint of Science, an international festival

Pint of Science is an international festival held since 2012, when Michael Motskin, nanobiologist, and Praveen Paul, neuroscientist, decided to take investigators out of their laboratories to put them into the bars, where they could make known what they do and do you consider that research is important.

Since the first edition of the festival in London, it has continued to grow and reach more and more cities. This year will be held simultaneously in UK, Ireland, France, Italy, USA, Australia, Germany and, for the first time in Spain. Coordinated by Inés Garmendia and Gaspar Sanchez from Vitoria, the first Spanish edition has started strong: in addition to Barcelona, you can also enjoy the Pint of Science in Madrid, Murcia, Pamplona, San Sebastian, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia and Zaragoza.
