Job offer: Analyst on Science to Policy Transference in Planetary Health


The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking an Analyst on Science to Policy Transference in Planetary Health ( Technician) who who will work to track the policy impact and knowledge transference of several initiatives related to climate change and planetary health.

Key Responsibilities

  • To analyse the impact of relevant reports and indicators on policies in the local, national and European level.
  • To identify the stakeholders involved in the climate and health related policies in the local, national and European level.
  • To understand the mechanisms of policy engagement, governance and advocacy in policy issues relating to climate change, sustainable development, and public health.
  • To elaborate and develop strategies to transfer knowledge to policies for the local and national level.
  • To engage with local, national or global policy processes stakeholders, from academia to institutions.

Training and experience /Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a background on political sciences and master degree in political sciences and public health, or a related subject or equivalent experience.

Specific Requirements

The candidate should have knowledge and experience about policy making, governance and engagement and advocacy techniques relating to climate change, planetary health, or public health. Also, a strong motivation to engage in interdisciplinary and intersectoral work and the willingness to participate in interinstitutional and training events, dissemination and engaging activities.
The candidate should have the capacity to contribute to literature reviews, create databases, perform statistical analysis and contribute to writing reports and scientific articles.

Selection Process

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
