Efectividad de una intervención de entrenamiento urbano en pacientes con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC): ensayo controlado aleatorizado

La pràctica habitual d'activitat física millora el pronòstic en pacients amb malaltia pulmonar obstructiva crònica (MPOC). No obstant això, no existeixen intervencions efectives per a mantenir o assolir nivells adequats d'activitat física en aquests pacients.

Aquest projecte planteja una intervenció d'entrenament mitjançant l'ús d'espais públics i itineraris urbans, adequats a les necessitats i capacitats de cada pacient. De fet, l'objectiu principal és estudiar l'efectivitat a 12 mesos de la intervenció respecte a ingressos per MPOC, nivell d'activitat física, capacitat d'exercici, composició corporal, qualitat de vida i salut mental. Altres objectius són identificar i classificar circuits urbans per a l'entrenament de pacients amb MPOC, i estudiar el cost-efectivitat de la intervenció.

En aquest estudi participaran 1.300 pacients amb MPOC de 54 centres de salut i hospitals de Barcelona, Badalona, Mataró i Viladecans. A tots ells se'ls recomanarà caminar almenys 5 dies a la setmana en circuits urbans adequats pel pacient, i se'ls estimularà a mantenir-se actius mitjançant missatges SMS al seu telèfon mòbil.
