WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is seeking a full-time SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project “Pre-clinical studies of the cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gramnegative bacilli”.

The overall project goal is to continue developing the main objective of the project by carrying out pre-clinical studies of a bicyclic peptide with  antibacterial activity, more specifically the ones related to in vitro studies of activity and synergies, as well as the coordination of  in vivo studies. 

The activities in which the SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN will be involved related to the Project will be:
-    Supervision of the study of the synergistic activity of PLP-3 with other antibiotics. 
-    Supervision and support of the in vitro studies to determine the bactericidal/bacteriostatic activity using lethality curves. 

The tasks will be developed in the research laboratory of Dr. Jord Vila’s group at Centre Esther Koplowitz (CEK). 

The activities will be carried out in the framework of the project " Pre-clinical studies of the bi-cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli” funded by the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2023 PROD 00134).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibility of the candidate will be to participate in the general organization of the research group and its equipment and infrastructure, and ensure that all the research lines are correctly carried on with the techniques performed in our laboratory, providing support to all the members involved (PhD Students / Post-doctoral students / Visitors / other Lab Technicians) and to other activities within the scope and purpose of the “Pre-clinical studies of the cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gramnegative bacilli” project.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous laboratory experience in the microbiology field (4 years), particularly in antimicrobial resistance. Training in Molecular Biology.

CONDITIONS

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Starting date:16th November 2024
  • Contract: Full Time
  • Salary Range: According to internal scales (Technician II A)

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:

1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
