What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking an outstanding research assistant for a project aiming at modelling the cost-effectiveness of new technologies for the management of Chagas disease. The overall project goal is to assess the cost-effectiveness of rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) in comparison with current diagnostic strategies in endemic countries of Latin America. The post will be initially for 6 months with the possibility of extension depending on availability of funds. 

Project/department description

In addition to the public health, the epidemiology, and the clinical disciplines, ISGlobal has been accumulating remarkable experience in health economics applied to poverty related diseases in low- and middle-income countries. The work carried out by health economists at ISGlobal is a highly motivating combination of field and desk work resulting in significant and impactful research outputs tackling healthcare challenges in low resource settings. 

Training and experience /Qualifications

  • Master in health economics or economics

Specific Requirements

  • Evidence of high level quantitative skills on health economics analysis, particularly cost-effectiveness analysis 
  • Good organisation capacity for conducting the tasks of this project in relative short time 
  • Good level knowledge of econometrics techniques for future potential projects is desirable  

Specific Duties

  • To improve and populate a decision tree + Markov model previously used for Chagas disease related interventions 
  • To help gathering parameters from the literature
  • To conduct deterministic and probabilistic analysis of the model
  • To draft a manuscript for publication in peer reviewed journals

Language level

  • Good English level, spoken and written, is essential. Good Spanish level, spoken and written is desirable. 


  • Duration : 6 months 
  • Starting date: 10th August
  • Contract: full time
  • Gross Salary Range: 27,000-34,000 euros / year /full time
During the crisis caused by COVID19, standard working conditions will be adapted to sanitary requirements.
