The Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal, is an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health, through research, translation to policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in three main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Child and Maternal Health, and Urban Health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. ISGlobal is the first global public health centre to have received the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is looking for a motivated Project Assistant experienced in implementing European Projects for the RECETAS project. The Re-imagining Environments for Connection and Engagement: Testing Actions for Social Prescribing in Natural Spaces project (RECETAS) project has been selected for funding under the EU Horizon 2020 research programme. Led by ISGlobal, RECETAS will explore the potential of nature-based solutions as an alternative to pharmaceutical prescriptions by testing nature-based social prescribing and using existing green infrastructure, like parks, rooftops, and gardens, to promote social cohesion and address loneliness and health-related quality of life. One of its main goals will be to connect vulnerable populations with the broader community. The intervention will be evaluated, including the use of randomized controlled trials and cost effectiveness studies, to measure impact.  RECETAS will be implemented in 6 countries globally, and the consortium includes 12 members from Europe, Latin America and Australia. 

Key Responsibilities

The Project  Assitsant will contribute to the daily  functioning of the RECETAS project. The Project Assistant will work closely with the Principal Investigator Project Manager and other consortium members to ensure successful implementation of the project. This includes tasks related to the daily functioning of the Project Consortium, communication among members, development of project communication materials, organization of meetings and events, monitoring and reporting of milestones contributing to other tasks such as reporting and coordinating project activities in Barcelona. 

Specific Duties

1. Project Coordinaton Responsibilities:

  •    Support the project manager in daily coordination among consortium members
  •    Organization of project meetings, minutes, and maitences of project website
  •    Support to the project  manager in other coordination aspects as needed (reporting, design of communication products, etc.)

2. Project Implementation:

  •     Coordination ISGlobal project activities in Barcelona
  •     Technical support to other implementing partners
  •     Other tasks as needed

Training and experience:

  • Previous experience project implementation 
  • Training in health sciences (i.e. public health, epidemiology, biology) is considered beneficial.
  • Graphic and communication design skills highly valued

Skills

  • Able to work in a team and also independently
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to be flexible, and problem solve 
  • Frustration tolerance
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Google Documents, Videoconference Platforms, Slack 

Conditions

  • Duration: 5 years.
  • Contract for part time.
  • Starting date: March 2021.
