Lugar

Barcelona - Mozambique

Purpose

Based in Barcelona with frequent travel to Mozambique, this person will support the BOHEMIA scientific/translational team on implementation of the animal work across Safety and Efficacy and Health Economics protocols (treatment and sampling) as well as the implementation of the PK sampling (Safety & efficacy protocol)
This position supports building processes and implementation of activities regarding sample management and the One Health protocol. 

Tasks and responsibilities

One health

  • Animal treatment deployment team
    • Follow up on veterinary drug procurement
    • Participate in staff selection and treatment
    • Participate in operations design (HH per day, Pigs per day etc)
    • Integration of field operations and database
    • Plan and coordinate the animal sampling team
    • Follow up on procurement
  • Participate in staff selection and treatment
  • Participate in operations design (HH per day, Pigs per day etc)
    • Integration of field operations and database
    • Coordinate document translations

PK field work

  • Design operations and coordinate the PK flow:
    • Which FW will do Pk (e.g.; special team of FW vs. any FW)
    • Synergies between Pk flow and regular visits (e.g.; PK sample done in the same visit as the rest of the hh members?)
    • How to space visits based on the Pk sampling schedule (e.g.; 4 hours, 11 hours, 48 hours) and how to ensure schedule is followed
    • Days in which Pk will be done (i.e.; throughout the month vs. condensed in 3 days of the month) 
    • How to provide the randomization lists to FW and what to do in case the randomized individuals are not found 

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferred MSc degree
  • Experience with project implementation in developing settings

Languages

  • Excellent fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Portuguese is an asset

Skills/competences

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be detail oriented, have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks  simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate and interact competently and professionally at all levels within a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and ability to manage a rapidly changing environment.

Others

Availability to travel overseas as required. No more than 4 months a year.
