What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a bioinformatician in order to develop complex research databases to compile vast amount of data from activivies such as immunohistochemical and histological evaluation of samples, whole exome sequencing in cancer and infectious diseases, gene expression profiling and protein expression.

Main duties

The bioinformatician’s main tasks are to assist with creation and fusion of different databases, as well as to create data algorithms and use specialized computer software to identify and classify different variables such as somatic mutations,  copy number alterations, mutational signatures as well as protein sequences and patterns of immunohistochemical expression. The desired skills include the ability to analyze and visualize Mutation Annotation Format (MAF) files from large scale sequencing studies. The professional will consult with other researchers to complete, create and analyze complex data sets. Bioinformatician will be in constant communication with other scientists and laboratory technicians, and will maintain laboratory documents and keep current with relevant scientific or medical journals. They may assist with activities such as writing grant research proposals.

Training and experience /Qualifications

  • Higher education and experience in developing and analyzing complex databases. 

Specific Requirements

  • Data management.
  • Knowledge of specific programs: R software (package MAF tools), SPSS, Word, Excel, Power Point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review of the genomic sequencing data. 
  • Design, fusion and management of complex study databases.
  • Biostatistical analysis of datasets using R software (MAF tools).
  • Assistance in writing methodological section in grant proposals.

  • Salary Range: Compensation for this position will be based on the applicant’s experience and qualifications. Based on the internal scales.
During the crisis caused by COVID19, standard working conditions will be adapted to sanitary requirements.
