The Value of Aid

The Value of Aid

In an effort to ensure the quality and effectiveness of official development aid, we are involved in drawing up a new agenda for health cooperation

Official development aid (ODA) is one of the most important resources used to improve the life expectancy and quality of life of the world's most vulnerable populations. In a changing world facing great challenges, and at a time when some voices have questioned the usefulness of aid, ISGlobal promotes evaluation of the work carried out and the creation of new and innovative proposals that will ensure the future quality and efficacy of cooperation in health, keeping pace with changing scenarios. The objective of this work, carried out through analysis and discussion, is to define priorities and to use coherent and measurable evidence-based indicators to demonstrate the value of aid.

This project of the ISGlobal Think Tank produces publications examining the crucial issues that are determining, shaping and questioning the international and the Spanish global health agenda. The selection of topics and the focus of the work emerge from intense and wide-ranging discussion within the ISGlobal team. Once a topic is identified, a chosen expert drafts a paper that will be used as a basis for discussion in a continuous feedback process involving both the ISGlobal team and strategic external partners. The final position paper is presented at a public event and widely disseminated through the media and social networks.
