Jaume Giró Ribas
C.E.O. of “la Caixa” Banking Foundation
Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Navarra and Diploma in Business Administration from ESADE. After collaborating with the regional press of Navarra and La Vanguardia newspaper, in 1987 he joined the news agency Reuters, first as journalist and later as head of the Section of Economics at Barcelona. Three years later, he began his experience in the business field as Head of Communication at Catalana de Gas (catalan gas company).
In June 1991 he was appointed Director of External Relations of Gas Natural SDG, a position from which he managed the communication and the design and implementation of the brand of this leading company in the gas industry, as a result of the merger of Catalana de Gas and Gas Madrid.
In 1994 he became Corporate Director of External Relations of Gas Natural Group and in 1995 he was also appointed Director of the Chairman’s Office and member of the Management Committee of the company. In November 2004, he was appointed Executive Director of Communication and Chairman's Office of Repsol YPF. In addition, in May 2007, he was also appointed Chairman of PETROCAT and from 2007 to April 2009 he was Member of the Board of Petronor.
In March 2009, he joined the "la Caixa", where he is currently C.E.O of “la Caixa” Banking Foundation and Chief Communication Officer of Criteria CaixaHolding.
