Jordi Portabella Calvete
Manager of the Area of Science, Research and Environment of ''la Caixa'' Banking Foundation
With a degree in Life Sciences (UB) and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (ICT/UPC), he has taught environment classes to agricultural engineering students at the UIC. He has acted as an adviser at the UB Faculty of Biology for the creation of a new study programme.
He has been an environmental consultant for a number of national and international companies and institutions. He has considerable municipal experience, having occupied a number of Barcelona City Council posts since 1999 from which he has promoted environmental, economic and social sustainability. He has also promoted this cause as vice-president of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) since 1999, vice-president of the Barcelona Regional Council (Consell Comarcal del Barcelonès) since 2003 and representative of the Barcelona Provincial Council (Diputació de Barcelona) since 2011, as well as during his terms as a member of the Catalan Parliament from 1992-99.
He has been a member of the board of the Fundació la Caixa since 2009 and in 2015 he was appointed Manager of the Area of Science, Research and Environment of ''la Caixa'' Banking Foundation. He was also invited to be a member of the board of the Fundació de l’Esperança (2013) and is a member of the ISGlobal board.
